Dorreus and Najera win inaugural UA Cossatot Athlete of the Month Awards
DE QUEEN, Ark. - For the first time in UA Cossatot Colts history, the UAC athletic department is excited to award Athlete of the Month honors. Due to the limited August action, the first month and a half has been condensed into one award. For August and September, the Female Athlete of the Month is Francesca Doreus while the Male Athlete of the Month is Kerry Najera, both from UA Cossatot's soccer programs.

Coming to Cossatot from North Park High School in Miami, Dorreus has been a constant force on the pitch for the Colts this season. The Cabaret, Haiti native scored a goal and notched an assist on Aug. 16 in an exhibition against Texas A&M Texarkana before repeating the feat against Coffeyville (Sept. 3) and Crowder (Sept. 26). In addition, she scored on Sept. 17 against the NCCAA's Southwestern Adventist University.
Najera scored 12 goals in 12 matches in his freshman year to make the Region 2 All-Region First Team, the Dallas native has hit the ground running this season. With 13 points from five goals and three points, Najera leads the Colts in all major offenesive categories. Najera kicked things off with a goal against NAIA Texas A&M Texarkana on Aug. 16, then scoring both goals in the 2-0 Aug. 23 win over UA Rich Mountain. Najera then notched a pair of assists against Hinds on Aug. 27. Najera scored in his 30-minute substitute appearance against De Queen FC on Sept. 6, and has now scored in his last three matches. On Sept. 17. Najera scored both goals including a late winner in an exhibition against NCCAA Southwestern Adventist, scored in a win against NOC-Enid (Sept. 21.) and two against Crowder (Sept. 26.)
