Men's Basketball Loses Overtime Battle 86-81 to South Arkansas
Lockesburg, Ark. - UA Cossatot men's basketball wrapped up their 2025 home slate on Saturday afternoon, falling 86-81 to South Arkansas College Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium.

The Colts (7-7) hit a buzzer beater to force overtime but could not prevail, as the Stars (6-4) had the upper hand in OT.
The first half started with UAC leading by a couple of possessions, though eventually SAC took a 21-20 lead with over seven minutes left.
It remained close to the end, with the Stars leading 30-28 at halftime, with Cherano Calmez leading the Colts with six points.
The Colts battled it out to start the second half, and just over seven minutes in a three-pointer from RJ Patton tied things up at 43-43, with a layup by Amorie Arie giving the Colts the lead shortly therefore.
However South Arkansas went on a run in the following ten minutes to find themselves up 54-49.
The two sides fought closely thereafter, with Cossatot cutting it to a one-possession game with three and a half minutes left.
A Justin McCray and-one tied the game up, with the sophomore guard making it 65-65 on his season debut.
McCray then tacked on another point with a free throw shortly after.
SAC then took a 69-68 lead in the last minute, extending it 71-68 to after free throw 6.5 seconds to go. Running the length of the court, Devean Newton threw up a three over two Stars defenders, dramatically sinking it at the buzzer to force overtime.
Overtime remained close as well, being tied at 73-73 then 76-76. South Arkansas pulled up 78-76 with a bit over two minutes left to go.
Down 82-79, the Colts forced a defensive stop, getting the ball to Calmez in the post, who spun around and found McCray who banked it in to make it 82-81 with 11.4 seconds to go.
Having to foul, UAC send SAC to the line where they made both. Cossatot could not score on the other end, and lost 86-81.
McCray was a menace on his debut, scoring 17 -- all after halftime including five points in overtime.
The Colts will travel to New Mexico for their last games of 2025, with the Colts partaking in the 2025 New Mexico Junior College Classic. Tip-off against North Plate C.C. in Hobbs, New Mexico on Wednesday, December 17 is set for 1 p.m. at the Caster Activity Center, with UAC playing New Mexico Junior College at noon the following day. This is not the first rodeo for the Colts at the NMJCC, as Cossatot previously competed in the 2023 and 2024 iterations against NMJC.
