Men's Basketball Loses Overtime Battle 86-82 to ASU Newport
Lockesburg, Ark. - UA Cossatot men's basketball returned to home action Wednesday evening, falling 86-82 in overtime to Arkansas State Newport at the Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium in their first game there in 2026.

The Colts (8-11, 2-5 Region 2) were up by 12 but could not seal the deal, as the Aviators (5-9, 2-4 Region 2) came back to win in overtime after tying the game in the dying seconds of regulation.
Both sides were close to begin the first half, but ASUN began to pull away and went up 29-22. Cossatot wouldn't go down without a fight though, as a Peter Serunjoji layup with 3:10 to go tied it at 29-29, and a pair of Isaac Freeman free throws with 2:31 to go put UAC up 31-29, before the freshman guard from Louisiana hit a three-pointer to make it 34-29 via a 12-0 run. A Devean Newton three in the closing seconds capped off an excellent finish to the half, as the Colts led 39-33 after 20 minutes. Dylan Glover led the Colts with an outstanding 13 first-half points.
Cossatot got out to a 12-point lead in the second half, and while the Aviators fought back and to close the gap to a one-possession game.
With eight seconds left, a Newport layup went in to tie it at 76-76, and UAC was unable to score, sending the game to overtime.
The two teams traded scores for most of overtime, but ASUN was able to stop Cossatot last, giving them the win.
Redshirt sophomore guard Dylan Glover led the colts with 22 points, while freshman guard Amory Arie had 14 and sophomore forward John Ateny scored 12.
The Colts return to the road this weekend, as they are set to play North Arkansas on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m.
