Men's Basketball Falls in Last-Second 82-81 Home Loss to Arkansas State Mid-South
Lockesburg, Ark. - UA Cossatot men's basketball suffered late heartbreak once again, falling 82-81 in the dying seconds to Arkansas State Mid-South at the Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium.

The Colts (8-13, 2-7 Region 2) held a slight lead over ASU Mid-South for most of the contest, but the Greyhounds (14-6, 7-2 Region 2) were able to grab the win with a pair of very late free throws.
Cossatot got out to a good lead to start the game, but their nine-point lead vanquished in under four minutes as a Mid-South layup gave them a 27-25 lead with 7:36 to go.
UAC fought back to take the lead, as a consecutive pair of Landon Allen threes gave them a 39-36 halftime lead, with sophomore big man Cherano Calmez leading the Colts with eight points in the first.
The second half was similarly closely-fought, with the two sides being separated by one or two possessions throught the half. With a minute to go, Cossatot led 79-76, but a ASUMS basket, steal, and basket gave them the lead. UAC could not score on the other end, but a RJ Patton Steal and feed to Calmez gave them back the lead. The Greyhounds then were fouled, and took an 82-81 lead at the line with 3.3 seconds to go.
UAC could not score at the other end, as Arkansas State Mid-South emerged as 82-81 winners.
Calmez led Cossatot with 21 points, while Patton had 17.
The Colts had matchup scheduled this Saturday away to Southeast Arkansas, but incoming weather resulted in it being postponed to Feb. 2. As such, Cossatot will be back in action next Wednesday at SAU Tech.
