RAYMOND, Miss. - UA Cossatot women's soccer played its second match of the season, as the Colts (0-2) 4-1 to Hinds Community College (2-0) at Tom Shepherd Field despite a goal from Colts goalkeeper Nahomie Ambroise.
After an early round of shots from close range on both sides, the Colts struck first via a special source. Winning a free kick just past midfield, up stepped... Nahomie Ambroise, Cossatot goalkeeper and member of the 2023 Haiti World Cup Squad as well as starter at the 2022 CONCACAF Championships. Ambroise launched a ball into the Hinds box, and the Eagles goalie getting a hand on it wasn't enough, putting UAC up 1-0. The Colts nearly doubled their lead in the 19th minute but an HCC defender blocked the shot, and in the 25th minute the Hinds attack came into the box, with Ambroise saving their initial shot but HCC being able to equalize on the rebound. Ambroise kept the score level for the rest of the half, making a string of saves.
The second half was all Eagles however, as took the lead in the 65th minute and didn't look back, adding to it with goals in the 77th and 82nd minute to end up 4-1 victors.
The Colts return a week from now up in Kansas, as they'll face off against Coffeyville Community College next Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
