Hot Springs, Ark. - UA Cossatot women's soccer may have gained their biggest win in program history thus far, running rampant in a 4-1 win over National Park College at Hot Springs High School midday Wednesday.
Fresh off a 3-1 win over Crowder Sunday, Cossatot (2-5, 1-0 Region 2) spent the majority of the contest in NPC's half, ultimately triumphing over the Nighthawks (0-7-1, 0-1 Region 2). If Cossatot gains a result in the return contest in De Queen on Oct. 25, they'll be headed to the District Championships, one step away from the NJCAA Championships in Wichita, Kansas.
After an early onslaught of Colts attacks, inaugural UA Cossatot Female Athlete of the Month Francesca Dorreus put UAC up 1-0 with a 38th minute goal, slotting a shot past the keeper after an assist from Dahana Deis.
It was a UAC-dominated first half, outshooting NPC 17 to four, leading eight-to-one in shots on goal.
Dorreus then doubled the Cossatot lead in the 50th minute with her fourth goal of the season. The Haitian forward is now on four goals and 10 points in 2025.
NPC pulled within one within 70th minute goal, but UAC answered in style.
Laura Daravina scored her first goal of the season in the 79th minute and with five minutes to go, Dorreus won a penalty kick, with Mary Ramirez converting to make it 4-1.
Cossatot thoroughly dominated, outshooting NPC 30-seven, with 13 shots on goal to NPC's three. Nahomie Ambroise stopped two out of three shots in goal.
The Colts are back in non-conference action on Sunday, Oct. 5, as they'll take on St. Charles Community College at noon in Cottleville, Missouri.
