Dorreus and Gustave Named to NJCAA Region 2 DII All-Region Team
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Fellow Haitian freshman, forward Francesca Dorreus and midfielder Angeline Gustave were named to the NJCAA Region 2 DII All-Region Team, the league office announced.
Francesca Dorreus has been a menace this season in the Colts attack, leading the team in goals (8), assists (5) and points (21). Coming to UAC from North Park High School in Miami, the Cabaret, Haiti native scored a goal and notched an assist on Aug. 16 in an exhibition against Texas A&M Texarkana before repeating the feat against Coffeyville (Sept. 3) and Crowder (Sept. 26). In addition, she scored on Sept. 17 against the NCCAA's Southwestern Adventist University, before as she scored a brace in each match against National Park College to help UAC knock their rivals off the perch for the Region 2 DII Conference Championship, as well as away against No. 5 St. Charles C.C. before assisting against the Cougars at home as Cossatot clinched the Central District Championship and a NJCAA National Championships berth in double overtime on Nov. 8.
Angeline Gustave has been a constant presence as the engine of the Cossatot midfield, while also netting two goals at home against National Park (Oct. 25) and most notably for fellow the North Miami Senior HS grad and former Little Haiti FC player, scoring from UAC's own half on a free kick in double overtime victory over No. 9 St. Charles to give the Colts Central District Championship and a NJCAA National Championship berth. In addition, the Port-au-Prince showed off her versatility at the National Championships, slotting in admirably at center back to bring some much needed stability to the UAC backline.
