Men's Soccer Drops Close 4-3 Match at Hinds
August 27, 2025
RAYMOND, Miss. - UA Cossatot men's soccer lost a heartbreaker out east, as the Colts (1-1) fell 4-3 to Hinds Community College (2-0) at Tom Shepherd Field in Raymond, Mississippi despite numerous late chances.
The Colts took a quick lead, with left back Obi Irondi assisting freshman striker Andre Niccolo Falsini to give Cossatot an early lead. After this the match evened out for a bit with chances for both sides, before Hinds equalized on a corner kick in the 33rd minute. Two Colts attempts then went astray, and HCC capitalized to take the lead in the 40th minute, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Three goals in 45 minutes is a good amount, but a five-minute of flurry from both sides in the early second half put that to shame.
UAC struck back in the 57th minute, with Gustavo Quiroz scoring on a Kerry Najera assist. Hinds wasn't to go down without a fight though, and scored two minutes later to regain the lead
And once again, the match was leveled as Falsini scored another goal on a quick attack from Cossatot, with Najera making it a pair of assists as well after scoring a pair of goals on Saturday at UA Rich Mountain.
Drama came in the last 15 minutes, with Hinds having their penalty saved by Alexander Hautz in the 75th minute, only to score moments later in the 76th minute to take a 4-3 lead.
Just a few minutes later Najera took a beautiful free kick, but his attempt was saved.
Cossatot had a prime chance a few minutes later but missed wide, but a pair of 85th minute point-blank saves from Hautz kept the match within reach.
Within the final three minutes, Cossatot had three clear-cut chances right in front of goal but could not convert, and HCC triumphed 4-3 over the UAC.
The Colts play again on Monday, with a 3 p.m. Neutral site match at Burns Park Little Rock against Northeast Community College up next.
