De Queen, Ark. - UA Cossatot men's soccer's comeback was left uncompleted on Friday aftenoon, losing 3-2 to the Crowder Roughriders at the Colts Soccer Complex in De Queen, Ark.
UAC (2-4) fell down big early to CC (3-3-3), and could not eek out a result despite multiple goals and more close calls.
The Roughriders were rampant in the early stages of the first half, scoring sixth, 18th and 19th minute goals to lead 3-0.
The Colts wouldn't go down without a fight though, as freshman midfielder Danyal Bissessur played a through ball to Kerry Najera, who scored to pull UAC within two. Not to be outdone, Najera pounced on a loose ball in the box for his fifth goal on the season and 17th in 19 career matches, putting the Colts within a goal's reach of the Roughriders.
Cossatot had more chances in the first half with 13 shots to Crowders's five, but both sides had five shots on goal.
The Colts had many attacking opportunities in the second half but ultimately fell short, as the contest ended 3-2.
Cossatot outshot Crowder 19-13 and had seven shots on target to their six, but it was the Roughriders who made the most of their chances.
Alexander Hautz had three saves in goal.
The Colts kick off conference play to start October, with a trip to Hot Springs to play rivals National Park College on Oct. 1 at noon.
